Classic Game Room HD reviews the Sony PSP model PSP-3001, released in 2008. This PSP is the unit that CGR uses for all of the PSP reviews because it has an amazing audio and video output that allows gamers to play the PSP on televisions with component video for the best picture possible. The PSP itself has an amazing screen, sounds great through headphones (or stereo system) and is built with excellent controls and feels solid. The UMD format is the weak link for this (and other, older PSP models) unit because the UMD drive is an optical drive just waiting to have problems. Fortunately PSP owners can download most of their games from the Playstation Network these days, including a huge number of original PSone video games for PSP. Now that the PSP Go is released you may think that the PSP series 1000, 2000 and 3000 are obsolete but they are not! The older PSP models can still download the newest games and rock your journey with Playstation on the go goodness.

downloading games is expensive! have you seen what they charge on playstation store? all about amazon.
Buying games that dont exist sucks becuz when u ever sell ur psp, u cant sell the games becuz u dont have em.
@amazier I think you meant “physicaly” lol. by the way, if you hack umd it means you can play games straight of your memory card nor using the disc?
My problem with it is that the screen’s too big and fragile! Make the screen less wide and put on something to protect it and I’ll give it a try.
I’ve had my 3000 for 10 months, and not one disc reading problem at all. the games start right up. great system!!
lol I have my psp since 2004 psp model 1001 and is still working nicely….
If you think the UMD drive is such a problem and raised the price, why didn’t you just buy the GO?
I’ll tell you why:
because that’s BULLSHIT!
Dude all my games seems to work even though i have had it for like a half year…
The umd is the mose awesome part about that psp verison. The newest lost it. problem is that if you sell your psp you loose all your games and you can’t win any money with your games anymore. Maybee it’s abit old school but having your games fysicly is important for some. Movies you just import them from your computer to your memory stick. And if you don’t like umd’s you can always hack them but i still prefer them fysicly
greetings for the rest good revieuw.
i gotta say that on my psp 1001 i never had problems from disk reading. Worked like a charm
well dl only kills the used market a disk you can resale or trade or go to a fleamarket and buy cheap a dl you got topay their set price and get nothing for it again i do like dls but i like to be able to trade or buy used at a cheaper price
We need some Vectrex games on the PSP.
Dm i know what it is now!
What does that pic of music symbol do at bottom i need to know fast i think its mute but i dunno some1 reply fast please send me message or on this comment!!!!
seriously dont buy psp, i have it for a long time and i have no use for it… buy a good phone and thats it.. games suck on this system

omg… l0l your funny… ha but im getting a psp on thursday… so excited
hahaha lol funny as always great review
Cool thanks a lot! I am going to get one know!
It’s all very well slagging off the UMD movies, but what if you are on a long journey or a driving & camping holiday and you don’t have a laptop? Personally, I’d rather look at the scenery, but for some people I imagine films on the PSP would come in very handy.
if u have problems with umd’s use the playstation store to buy games there so u dont need a umd
i think the psp go will fix its issues as it goes along. maybe with the next revisions of it. or the psp2 =P
you got a broken psp. i never had a problem reading umd, and they never skipped for me. idk what ur talking about. u make the psp look baad coz ur a nintendo fsnboy..greaaaat! lol
The guy:Okay we are signing into the playstat – What!? this is so typical.*a update is required and waits for many minute*

Also if it does have a chance of working do I have to go google for the needed demo or is it still hosted by Sony?
