Sexier and sleeker than the white Wii. Received mine yesterday and it matches all my electronics, including my PS3 and Xbox 360. A great deal since it includes Wii Sports Resort with the motion plus for free!

There is no question about the strength of the Nintendo Wii. Since it came out in 2006, it has revolutionized the way we now play video games from start to finish. Now with Sony & Microsoft trying to copy what Nintendo has showcased to a wide variety of games to gamers everywhere, it is impossible to not give that recognition for the Wii. With many great games like Super Mario Galaxy, The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Super Smash Brothers Brawl bringing new smiles to Wii gamers off all ages, Nintendo has shown that they can go beyond the standard controller. Now, with all the hype, Nintendo is finally releasing their very first bundle pack for the Wii, and it has been well-worth the wait, with a bit of extremes for the sports nut in all of us.
The Nintendo Wii Sports Resort Bundle Pack, is a great price and a great deal of excitement for anyone who loves sports in each and every way. You get the Wii system with Nintendo’s hits Wii Sports Resort, as well as the classic original Wii Sports which is also included with the Nintendo Wii. The gameplay with both games is very strong as you compete in favories like Golf, Baseball and tennis (Wii Sports,) and many other great games. Through Wii Sports Resort, you also get to compete in bike racing, the thrills of skydiving, shooting 3-point shots in basketball, scoring extreme strikes in 100 pin bowling, and go play fetch with your Wii pal puppy by tossing a frisbee, or many other great challeneges. You also get the Wii Motion Plus which is very useful in Wii Sports Resort, as well as many other great Wii titles, sold seperately like Red Steel 2.
You also get the opportunity to download your favorite games online through the Wii’s Virtual Console like Art Style: Cubillo, and Mega Man 9, as well as classic video games from Nintendo, Sega & Neo-Geo systems like Super Mario World, Sonic The Hedgehog, and Bomberman. If you have Nintendo Gamecube games, they also are compatable with the Wii, so you can play your Gamecube favroites with Nintendo’s Gmaecube controller, and master those challenges in Mario Party 7, race you way to the finish line in Need For Speed: Most Wanted, and many other Gamecube classics.
There is also a brand new great deal of joy that is new for Wii owners, you also can now stream and watch your favorite movies online via Netflix with a Netflix movie subscription. You can watch all your favorite films via online like Titanic, E. T. , Iron Man with Robert Downey Jr. and many other great films for as little as a few dollars a month extra on top of that by going to netflix’s new Wii service through your broadband service. It really shows that Nintendo has also made its way to compete with the ways that Sony & Microsoft have shown with the PS3 & Xbox 360.
All in all, if you’re looking for a great video game system at a affordable price, now would honestly be a great time to get the Nintendo Wii for you and your family to enjoy & the Wii Sports Resort bundle pack that comes in the standard white, or a exclusively designed sleak and daring black. Not just with great games now, but also with upcoming trasures like Metroid: The Other M and Super Mario Galaxy 2 that are also fun & full of excitement for all ages. I absolutely recommend the Nintendo Wii because it is fun for everyone, and the excitment awaiting by the swoop of your Wii-Mote.

Even though this is “black”, the stand is silver, and so is the ugly power cord.
Right out of the box the unit worked great. Even with the worst video connection (composite/480i) the picture isn’t bad at all from about 8′ away. I ordered the component cable to see if there is much difference (there should be going to 480p). My Denon receiver does a great job at upscaling to 1080p, so I should be happy.
Only one controller is kind of lame, but for the price I got it at, with sports, and sports resort, I can’t complain too much.

If you’re like me, you’ve heard from everybody that the Wii is stupid, has dumb games, isn’t fun, and everyone who owns one eventually gives it away or leaves it to collect dust. Needless to say, I was a little disappointed when I got one as a gift. I’m not much of a gamer and even if I was, all of my buddies swear by the Xbox 360 or the Playstation 3. I decided to keep it and I’m actually pretty glad I did. First, I have to say that I love the black color. It’s a lot sleeker and looks more expensive. In my opinion, the only devices that look good in glossy white are Apple products which is why I’m glad Nintendo now offers black. Second, it comes with a great bundle. Every Wii (at least as far as I am aware of) comes with Wii Sports, but this bundle comes with Wii Sports Resort AND a Wii Motion Plus (which you have to have in order to play Wii Sports Resort).
Taking it out of the box, I was impressed by the overall quality. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not as heavy or solid as an Xbox or PS3, but it doesn’t have a cheap plastic feel like the Gamecube (which I also own). I am very impressed by the built-in WiFi receiver (the Xbox doesn’t even have this standard) making it easy to connect your system to your Internet connection. I also love the Wii Store, where you can download classic titles from the NES, SNES, N64, and several other systems including SEGA Genesis. They’re reasonably priced, too (I believe the original Super Mario Bros. game was only [. . . ]). That saying, you can only purchase things from the Wii Store with Wii Points. 100 Wii Points equals [. . . ] and you can buy them in intervals of 1000, 2000, 3000, or 5000 points. This is what brings me to one of the cons. An SNES game from the Wii Store costs 800 points (depending on the game), meaning you have to buy at least 1000 Wii Points. That leaves you with 200 unused Wii Points that are useless as the next cheapest purchase is 500 points meaning you need to buy another set of points. Some games, like Guitar Hero, have available add-ons that can use up your irregular amount of points, though. One thing I don’t like about this feature is every purchase you make has to be saved to either the Wii’s hard drive or an SD card. If you accidentally save it to the hard drive, it can only be played on that specific system.
One of my favorite uses of the Wii is the Netflix Streaming Disc. It is totally free with your Netflix subscription and has no hidden costs like the Xbox. My brother has an Xbox and a Netflix subscription but in order for him to stream videos to his game system, he has to purchase Xbox LIVE. With the Wii, you request a streaming disc on Netflix’s website, they send it free of charge, and you can watch as many movies as you want so long as the Netflix disc is inserted into the Wii. Not only that, but you can add select movies to your queue using the Wii. My brother told me he can’t do that with his Xbox.
I also like the backwards compatibility with the Gamecube games. Like I said earlier, I have a Gamecube and the Wii makes it easy to play my Wii games as well as my Gamecube ones. Not only is it convenient, it instantly adds hundreds of titles for you to play. Since the Wii exclusively uses wireless controllers and the Gamecube does not, they have a hidden compartment on the top of the console that houses the controller slots and memory card slots for the Gamecube. Personally, I think video games are less fun if you have to exercise to play them (which is almost every Wii game) so I’m very glad I can get use out of this system by playing my Gamecube games. Some Wii games actually have the option to let you use a Gamecube controller to play the game. If you check on the back of the game’s case, it will have a picture of a Gamecube controller meaning you don’t have to exercise to play that particular game (which I think is nice to know).
Now for the problems I have. One thing that really bothers me about the Wii is how cartoon-y it is. I realize it’s a family friendly product, but the cartoons and animations make it seem so much cheaper than it should be. The remotes, as nice and expensive as they are, are unresponsive and downright frustrating at times. Playing different games on Wii Sports can be a difficult experience because at times, the Wii Remote seems to have a mind of its own. The Wii Motion Plus helps a lot, but some games don’t take advantage of it. In fact, I believe the remote is the area Nintendo could really improve. For example, you can’t turn off the remote without turning off the console and thus ruining the game, movie, or whatever else was on. I’ve run into this problem several times. When playing multiplayer and someone needs to quit the game, you have to stop the game, change the player settings, and restart all over again in order for the remote to automatically shut off. And when watching a movie on Netflix, the remote stays on for several minutes, unnecessarily draining the batteries, before it will automatically shut off.
I also have a hard time buying games. They are about $10 cheaper than Xbox 360 or PS3 games, but there is a lot less to choose from. And those that you can choose from are upsetting by the lower quality of graphics. There are only a handful of Nintendo exclusive games that are worth getting (like Mario), but the rest are animated crap that only six year olds and emo teenagers would enjoy.
Overall, I am happy with the Wii. It’s a nice addition to the Nintendo family and even though it has a lot of cons, it’s not too bad for a gaming system.
